The Obedient plant is snapdragon-like with square stems typical of the mint family. It is patch-forming from rhizomes and will spread so pay attention to where you plant it. It is typically found in wetter habitats, such as stream banks and bottomlands. This Maryland native Physostegia virginiana grows 36"-48" in moist soil and will tolerate clay soil. Attracts pollinators & resists deer and blooms later in the summer.
